I usually don't eat a ton of bread before dinner but I could not resist the buttery garlic knots. Slightly crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. It really could of been my dinner.

House dressing on the salad you can tell was homemade and had the perfect seasoning.

Calamari appetizer was lightly battered and so fresh. Felt like I was in New England but this was better than New England. Eggplant appetizer was equally great with ricotta, cheese, and fresh mouth watering eggplant.

The Rigatoni with vodka sauce and shrimp is perfect along with the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The sauces on everything was the type of sauce you want to lick the entire bowl clean. I could not believe I was at an Italian restaurant and everything was light.

The Mellanzane al Ripieno is eggplant and spinach and other heavenly stuff baked with the lightest crispest crust I have ever tasted.

I could of eaten everything on the menu but wanted to save some food for leftovers so I can enjoy this amazing food over the weekend.

Next time I will order the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp to take home along with my dinner. Probably will order two. The shrimp was fresh. I mean...again...fresh like New England and I know because I am from New England. The sauce is creamy and light.

Dessert...don't leave until you have something. Pick anything...you will not be disappointed. We ordered four desserts for three people just so we can have leftovers.

Staff was extremely friendly and took great care of us.

This is place is truly like being in Italy. Everything is authentic and fresh.

Been going to Mezzuluna for years. Only decent Italian in Charles Town. Went tonight for dinner with my family. They have always loved the garlic knots. Tonight they were inedible, hard as a rock. My salad was pretty good, the tomatoes weren't great and the dressing was overly vinegary, but the greens were crisp and good.  The Antipasto Dorado  was overall very good but the eggplant rollatine seemed cold. My husband had the calamari and said it was very good. The ravioli was also fine. The Caesar salad was way over dressed. The waitress was attentive and helpful.  The restaurant seems a little worn. Even the flowers on the tables were dead. Wouldn't take much to bring it back, maybe we just caught them on a bad night.

I think I have died and gone to Garlic Knot heaven.

There are so many great things to say about this place from beginning to end.  We walked in as a party of 14 with no reservation which can be daunting even for the most prepared restaurant.  They were quick to adjust their tables to create a space that we could all sit together.  Our waiter was informative, friendly, swift and efficient.  He kept drinks full without asking and recommended his favorites when asked.  I always hate having to ask for separate checks at the end of the meal but he was so nice to create many many separate checks for us without even having to ask.

The food was meh.  The pictures of the food on their website do not in any way reflect the presentation of the actual food.   The garlic knots were amazeballs.  The salad was great and our waiter was very accommodating to my no tomato need.  I have had many bowls of pasta in the past and this was not one of the better ones.  I had the Veal Francese .  It was colorless and was overpoweringly lemon.  The egg coating on the veal was soggy and flavorless.  The whole thing was swimming in a pool of lemon water.  Most of the meals that arrived to the table were drowning in some sort of liquid whether it be pasta water, oil, or lemon water.

Overall it was a good experience but it might have been the company I was keeping and the staff of the place that made it a good experience.

This is our favorite restaurant for special occasions. Love the eggplant parmigiana and the garlic knots! I haven't had a bad meal here actually. I do love their calzones and Stromboli but you can only get those at lunch time. Support a great, local, family friendly restaurant next time you go out!

While I enjoyed my meal, the shrimp fradiavolo, it was a bit underwhelming and a smaller portion than I was expecting. I giggled a little that the menu had a lot of spelling errors, and said it was garnished with clams. It comes out with one whole clam in the shell sitting stray on the plate. There were actual thick slices of garlic in the dish, which was a little painful to accidentally bite into and be blasted with garlic. However, the garlic knots are out of this world. Overall, nothing I can't get at an Olive Garden at a bigger portion with what I imagine may be more consistency.
